Duncan Stewart, director of casting for the National Artists Management Company, is responsible for hiring actors for every role in the Broadway, London, and international touring companies of the Kander and Ebb musical Chicago, among other shows. His niche, he admits, is casting stars, and he says he loves every minute of it. But, he adds, "As contagious as casting a star may be, I still get a thrill when I go to an EPA for Chicago and cast someone in his first Broadway show. It has happened twice.
